Last Weekend Wrap Up

As predicted all races competed in on the weekend were brutal.  Heat, humidity and mind games were out to get us.

Everyone did extremely well considering the conditions and you all should be very proud of your performance.

I am soooo very proud of one of our youngest members Arn, for competing in his first Spartan race (a bit biased too), he smashed it.  Arn did place last in the race, but, that is only because he kept on repeating all the obstacles multiple times because they were so fun.

Mizuno Ambassadors, this Weekend, and More

Mizuno Ambassadors for 2017

For 2017, we are so proud to announce that Brisbane Run Squad have again be chosen by Mizuno to be a Mizuno Ambassador Squad and for myself, Matt L, Matt C, and Liss to represent the brand and what it stands for.

We have been part of the Mizuno team for 7 years now and we look forward to continuing with them. Mizuno headquarters in Sydney have recently bought on board a new Ambassador Manager, Michael, he comes with new, fresh ideas and energy we are looking forward to working with him and David who is our State Rep.

Michael is coming to town to meet with us and hold an Ambassador VIP event on Wednesday 15th February,  where we will also have the chance to meet the other local Mizuno Ambassadors. This is a first and we are really looking forward to it.

As part of our new Ambassador arrangement, all BRS members can now enjoy 20% off Mizunos at our partner Shoes Feet Gear (previously 10%). Remember to take along your BRS membership card to obtain the discount. Haven't collected your card? We have them at training each week, so pop along and grab it!

We will keep you up to date during the year with Mizuno shoes and invite David along for a test wear session or two!

A BIG Thanks to Mizuno for their on-going support for us and the Squad.

Saturday 11th February

With this heat, its hard to go past the Southbank Lagoon for a post run dip. It is predicted 35 degrees on Saturday and there are lots of options for drink stations around the Southbank area.

When: Saturday 11th February

Where: Meet on the Stairs of the Southbank Surf Club

Time:
6am - 7:30am Matt and Liss will be there as coaches.

Parking - don't forget only $2 under Southbank from 5am-9am or 10am with your parkrun token.

Session Cost: $2

Followed by a lagoon dip, breaky & coffee of course!

Also, good luck to Matt L and any other BRSer's competing in the 16km Spartan Course on Saturday. It is sure to be brutal!

Sunday 12th February

Round 6 @ Hinze Dam
10.7km / 18.1km

Wow, race number 6 already!!  You can access the participant guide here

It is SURE to be a hot one. Bring plenty of water! A good tip popping icecubes in your hydration pack before you leave home in the morning. They will have melted by the time you start and leave you with nice cold water during the event. Also, pop your hydration bladder with some water in the fridge the night before.

It is going to be a tough one I am sure, but nothing we can't handle!!

See you all there!

Saturday Session

OK, so it doesn't look like cooling down any time soon. I know we are all keen to try a different venue other than Southbank, but with this heat, its hard to go past the Southbank Lagoon for a post run dip.

When: Saturday 4th February

Where: Meet on the Stairs of the Southbank Surf Club

Time
5:45am start for those keen on 17km. My suggestion is a 12km warm up followed by Parkrun 5km. That is my plan!

6am start for others keen to run/walk, run for 1-1.5 hours, finishing at the lagoon at 7:30am for a swim.

Parking - don't forget only $2 under Southbank from 5am-9am or 10am with your parkrun token.

Session Cost: $2

See you all soon
