Weekly & Lighthouse Run Update

This Week:
Happy to update that this week at BRS has been GREAT. Monday saw big numbers, with lots of new faces and lots of hills conquered! Wednesday was a tough run, we covered over 7km with a mixture of hills, sprints, and aerobic running. Lots of smiles at the end with individual achievements during the session! Well earned lollies and drinks to follow! We look forward to seeing new faces coming back for more!

Member Goals:
Darrell Giles a dedicated member of BRS is currently training for the Auckland Marathon - with only 30 days to go! The last few weeks he has pounded the pavements totally 100km of running per week! Keep up the great work Darrell!

Best of luck to BRS member Matt Cooper for his first 1/2 ironman this Sunday at the Gold Coast.

Our Next Goal

We all need goals, especially when it comes to health and fitness - goals keep us motivated and on track.

There are a few races coming up in the next few months, such as the 5km run at the Palm Beach Festival (11th October), Byron Lighthouse Run 10km (25th October), and the Mousdash 10.5km Cootha Run (15th Nov - perfect for those guys looking for an excuse to grow a mo!). See BRS home for more info.

You need to have personal goals, but as a club, the next race BRS will be aiming and training for is the Bryron Lighthouse Run (10km run, 8km walk). This means we will tailor training over the next 5 weeks to achieving that goal. Matt and I will be attending and participating in the event, and we would love to see many of you there participating also. Early bird entry of $30 applies until the 25th of September. The race starts at 7am, as Bryon is a 2-2.5hr drive, I would recommend getting accommodation for the night of the 24th. www.byronrun.com

Update

Great to see familiar and new faces joining us over the last 3 sessions.
As from next Monday 21st September, we will be back to regular sessions, every Monday and Wednesday evenings, 6pm-7pm from the Ship Inn, Southbank. Matt and I look forward to seeing you there!

Thanks heaps for your words of support before the World Triathlon Championships, which were held on the Gold Coast last Saturday, 12th Sept. It was such an honour to wear the green and gold. The atmosphere was amazing, competition tough, cheering overwelming, and overall the whole experience was one to remember. Some of you asked for an update on how I went - I had a great race, doing a personal best in the ride and run, and coming 24th overall.

Now the event is over, I look forward to sinking my teeth into BRS and working with you to achieve some great running results and reaching your fitness goals!

Our first Run

What a great turn out!!

Our first run with Brisbane Run Squad was on Thursday night 3rd of September. I admit I was a little nervous to find out just how many people would show up, but that was quickly alleviated when person after person kept walking around the corner heading straight for us. Numbers were pretty good, until, we found out that quite a few people were around the other side of The Ship Inn waiting there. After we rounded them up out total numbers were 30!!!

It is very exciting to get such a great response, thanks to everyone who turned up. We can really only go up from here. So, if you didn't make it on Thursday we hope to see you tonight (Monday) for some interval training. Don't be scared it won't hurt--MUCH!

Oh, and don't forget to tell your friends.

Remember: pain is just weakness leaving the body!
