Saturday Session & What's coming up

Saturday Session

We are heading to Southbank this week and finishing off our long run with Parkrun!

Where: Meet at Streets Beach, near the Southbank, near the Surf Club Restaurant

Parking
: Park in the Southbank underground carpark for $2! in after 5am out by 9am. Park in the middle near the pay station, and the exit will bring you out near Max Brenners and the stairs!

 

What: 1.5hour run!  
Warm up of 55mins, then Southbank Parkrun starting at 7am (5km). Finishing with Parkrun is a great idea as it really helps to push you through the last 5km. Don't feel like a long run? Just meet us there for Parkrun!

When: kick off 6am - finish at 7:30am

What's Coming up?

BRS Trail Running Camp

A fantastic opportunity to try something different, improve your trail running and have an awesome time!!!!

What: 2.5 days, 2 night running camp focussed on Trail running in preparation for BRS on Tour, Run the Whitsunday Great Walk and generally to improve your trail running.

What: a
ll runners are welcome! A base 10km level of fitness is the only requirement!!

When
: Friday 30
th May 5pm – Sunday 1st June 12noon 2014


Where: Binna Burra Lodge, Lamington National Park. Approx 1.5hrs south of Brisbane https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-28.1974266,153.1875823,15z

Cost: $255 per person

What’s included:
Coaching, practice and training on challenging off road trails.
2 x dinners, 2 x breakfasts, morning and afternoon teas

Daily activities including team building exercises, rope climbs, abseiling, and guided night walks

This weekend....Gold Coast Entries, Trail Running workshop

Saturday Session

This Saturday its all about yummy coffee, hearty market food, great company....OH and of course a run session!!

When: Saturday 22nd March
Time: 6am-7:30am
Where: Meet at the Rotunda, in New Farm Park
What: a run towards Portside, towards the city, Storey Bridge.
Cost: $2

OPTIONS:
A shorter run for those participating in the Twilight Festival and Up the Buff on Sunday followed by a stretch and chat.
Or a full 1.5hr for those not competing on the weekend.

We will head to the Farmers Markets at Powerhouse afterwards.

For those competing in the 16 or 25km UP THE BUFF Trail Run on Sunday, we will see you there. I can't imagine there will be that many people, so we will be easy to find!

Twilight - we will have the BRS tent in the inside of the track as per last year. Its hard to miss!!!

Saturday Sesssion + Trail Running Workshop 20th March

It's all about challenge, it's all about Trails!!!

Saturday Session

It is very difficult to judge if your trail running fitness is improving as every trail run is soooo different to the next, different terrain, different conditions, different distances. To help you gauge your improvements over the next 10 months, this Saturday we are doing a 5km Trail Run Time trial.

Where: Meet in the CarPark of the James Drysdale Recreation Centre, Bunya (directions below).

Time:  
Warm Up run: Meet at 6am for a 6:15am start on the dot
Parkrun Start: 7am
Finish : approx 7:45am (or how long it takes you do do the Parkrun) 

What
Warm up road run for 45mins
5km Parkrun off road through Bunya

Getting there by road:1. From Old Northern Rd. turn into the Jinker track, head up the hill. Turn right after the large green sign - James Drysdale Recreation Centre. Pass the yellow SES brick building take the first right into Park Lane. Continue to the bottom of the hill where adirt racing track, paddock and eucalyptus forest can be seen. 
2. If coming from Collins Rd. Turn into the Jinker track. Take the first Left into the James Drysdale Recreational Centre. Follow directions from SES building as above.




Trail Running Workshop

In 2014 our focus in on challenge and trying different terrains to stimulate your muscles and your senses!
We are focusing on trail running by:

  • 1 long trail run per month on a Saturday
  • 1 BRS event per month is a trail run
  • BRS Trail Running Camp on 30th May - 1st June
  • BRS on Tour 28km Trail Run through the Whitsunday Hinterland!
Plenty of opportunities for you to commit yourselves to doing something different and challenging!!

They have some great functionality and after a quick lesson, they are pretty user friendly.
